Sandip graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA.  Immediately after graduating in 1993, Sandip began his career in the insurance industry and joined PUA.  Over the next 10 years, Sandip learned every facet of the business from his father, Ram.  During this time, Sandip earned Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designations.  In 2003, while still working full time at PUA, Sandip began taking law school classes in the evenings.  In 2007, Sandip obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School, passed the bar exam, and became a member of the Illinois Bar.  Shortly thereafter, Sandip became president of PUA.           

Ram is one of the true experts of underwriting architects and engineers professional liability insurance in the nation!  Ram graduated from the Duke of Gloucester School in Nairobi, Kenya.  Shortly thereafter, Ram began his insurance career in Nairobi, Kenya in 1964 with Hogg, Robinson and Colin Hood Insurance (Kenya).  In 1969, Ram moved to the United States of America and was employed as an architects & engineers underwriter at Excess Underwriters, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of James S. Kemper Agencies.  Ram received an ACII designation (Associates of Chartered Insurance Institute of London, England) in 1969.  In 1974, Ram joined the GATX Insurance Company as Vice President-Casualty and managed the underwriting and marketing of various non-medical professional liability classes for GATX.  In 1978, Ram formed and became a partner of Thomas F. Sheehan, Inc. (“TFS”).   TFS were managing general agents for the Imperial Casualty Insurance Company and from 1978-1988, TFS underwrote in excess of $200,000,000 in professional liability premiums, with $160,000,000 coming from architects and engineers professional liability insurance.  Upon the retirement of his partner, Tom Sheehan, Ram formed PUA in 1990.  Since that time, Ram and PUA have administered numerous programs for various domestic and British companies and Lloyds of London.  In 2007, Ram handed the reigns of PUA over to his son, Sandip.  Ram remains active in the operations of PUA as a Vice President.

Ed graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, IL.  Upon graduating in 1996, he attended law school at Depaul University.  Ed decided to enter the insurance industry in 1998 as a professional liability underwriter at Rigdon & Gioia, an MGU in the Chicago suburbs.  Ed was responsible for senior level underwriting on several programs with full binding authority, including public officials’ liability, educators’ legal liability, miscellaneous E&O, D&O, home inspectors E&O/GL, and employment practices liability insurance.  Rigdon and Gioia became Target Insurance Services during Ed’s employment and he was promoted to Program manager before leaving Target.  Ed joined Ram and Sandip at PUA in 2001 as Assistant Vice President to underwrite the EPL, A&E, and other professional liability programs.   Ed earned his Registered Professional Liability (RPLU) designation in 2004.
